Who We are
SCBWI Malaysia (Persatuan Penulis dan Ilustrator Buku Kanak-kanak Malaysia) is a registered non-profit organization in Malaysia.
We are set up in Malaysia specifically for those individuals writing and illustrating for children and young adults in the fields of children’s literature, magazines, film, television, and multimedia.
We act as a network for the exchange of knowledge between writers, illustrators, editors, publishers, agents, librarians, educators, booksellers and others involved with literature for young people.
SCBWI Malaysia is affiliated with the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators based in Los Angeles (www.scbwi.org). There are currently more than 22,000 members worldwide, in over 70 regional chapters writing and illustrating in all genres for young readers from board books to young adult (YA) novels, making it the largest children's writing organization in the world.

OBJECTIVES/GOALS
The objectives and goals of the Society are as follows: 1) Provide support and training to children’s book writers and illustrators in Malaysia: 2) Encourage professional development of children’s book writers and illustrators through activities related to reading, writing, publishing and marketing of Children’s books; 3) Encourage the publishing of children’s books in Malaysia that have high literary and artistic value; 4) Provide creative stimulation and conduct research in the field of children’s literature. |
TUJUAN/MATLAMAT
Tujuan dan matlamat Pertubuhan adalah seperti berikut: 1) Memberi sokongan dan latihan kepada penulis dan pelukis buku kanak-kanak di Malaysia; 2) Menggalakkan perkembangan professional penulis dan pelukis buku kanak-kanak dengan mengadakan aktiviti-aktiviti yang berkaitan dengan pembacaan, penulisan, penerbitan dan pemasaran buku kanak-kanak; 3) Menggalakkan penerbitan buku kanak-kanak di Malaysia yang mempunyai nilai sastera dan artistik yang tinggi; 4) Memberi rangsangan dan menjalankan penyelidikan dalam bidang sastera kanak-kanak. |
What We do
Critique groups, "shoptalk" groups, newsletters containing information of regional interest to writers and illustrators, and social events enable members to share experiences and cultivate friendships. Members receive substantial discounts on admission to regional events.
